The Island
Collapsing Tiles
How the island shrinks and what happens when tiles collapse.
Collapsing Tiles
The island shrinks on a fixed schedule. This is what forces the endgame.
Schedule
- At the end of Turn 5, one tile is marked as collapsing. It will collapse 4 turns later, on Turn 9, destroying everything on it and becoming impassable.
- At the end of Turn 6, another tile is marked (collapses on Turn 10). This continues every turn after that.
- The game can last at most N + 8 turns, where N is the number of players.
What happens when a tile collapses
Everything on it is destroyed: items, mines, bombs, players. A collapsed tile can't be entered or crossed.
Selection
Collapsing tiles are chosen randomly, with one constraint: they never split the island into two disconnected parts. You'll always have a path between any two surviving tiles.
Pushing into collapsing tiles
Pushing someone onto a tile that's about to collapse (or has just been marked) is a classic kill tactic. Stay aware of which tiles are marked every turn, and think twice before letting someone get behind you near the edge of the map.
Keep the Move action available when you can. You never know when your tile will be next.
